About the name

Lapomdamour is a name we coined and it can be interpreted in two ways:

1- Phonetically, it sounds like "La Pomme d'Amour", which is French for "The Candy Apple". Hence the whimsical apple featured in our logo. For us, a candy apple is a sweet treat which evokes blissful childhood memories (funfairs, carnivals, holiday markets ... etc.).

2- The name also rhymes with "La Pompadour", one of the "Favorites" of Louis XV.  She is emblematic of a golden era at the royal court of France, which witnessed the creation of many classic pastries we still enjoy today. Hence, the period fashion & style illustrated  in the logo.

Past & Future

Lapomdamour is French Artisanal Bakery concept, based in Kuwait. The company was established in 2015 and is 100% Kuwaiti owned. During our 9 years in operation, we have attracted a niche segment of the local market who have become our regular customers. What these customers share in common is a love for authenticity and the classic French touch. We have also cultivated an image of high quality, consistency & outstanding customer service.

In the future, we would like to launch our brand internationally. Our dream goal would be to open a branch in Paris. We would like Parisians to rediscover some of their own classic pastries on their own turf. We would like them to be blown away by our exceptional croissants, for example. We have been observing Paris croissant reviews on Instagram and we see that our croissant has something unique and would stand out if it were covered in those same reviews.

It would be our way of giving back to the city which inspired us to bake viennoiseries in the first place. An homage to the old Paris bakeries ( especially the unassuming "Boulangeries de quartier") which used to make light & flaky butter croissants artisanally.

Philosophy & Mission

A connaisseur Judges a French Bakery by the quality of its Plain Croissant. We do too & this is where our mission begins...

To be the local French Bakery of choice for Croissants & Viennoiseries.

Our product is a magnet for a niche segment of the market. Our customers share our taste. They are people who know the difference &  will only be satisfied by a classic "Parisian-style" Croissant. Made in the old fashioned, artisanal method using a secret recipe we developed ourselves. A pastry of extreme light weight* & delicate flakiness, which also happens to be made with French A.O.P. Butter. A uncommon product to come by nowadays. It is considered exceptional ... even if you were to come by it in the city of light itself.

*The average weight of our regular sized butter croissant is 50 grams.

Regional Flavors

Local & International flavors are also celebrated by us, especially within the Viennoiseries range. This includes, for example, Croissants with typical Ramadhan flavors (see image).

However, we always make sure that the "Parisian" identity of the Croissant is not overpowered (nor made heavy) by the regional ingredients.

In view of the extreme lightness of our croissants, we do not overload them with a heavy filling. We also avoid fillings which may compromise the structure & flakiness.
